Why Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative, self expression, and the creative process to improve mental health and well-being. It is based on the belief that the creative process has the power to heal, to transform, and to bring about personal growth and self discovery. Through the use of art materials, and the creative process, clients are able to explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a safe and supportive environment, and if I knew ways of coping with different experiences. Art therapy is a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit, and seek to address issues on all three levels. Art therapy can be used to help individuals cope with a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, PTSD, depression, trauma, addiction, as well as physical challenges, such as chronic pain or disability.
